wine update

Thanks to General Pinotage for recommending Morisson's Pinotage in the 'The Best' range. 2005. £6.99. It really is excellent. I vote as a high 2!

The General is pleased that you are pleased. I was in Morrisons today and saw that there is £1 off the Hill & Dale wines, both Sauvignon Blanc and Pinotage 2005. At £3.99 thats very good value: my tasting note is at http://pinotageclub.blogspot.com/2007/04/lunch-pinotages-and-more-at.html

Glad you're not phased by your new moniker!

I shall look out for the Pinotage 2005 but I'm yet to be convinced by white wine. I'm sure this is akin to foul language in the wine-quaffing world but I think I've only ever enjoyed one white wine...and I can't remember what it was!

Well, we are on the same wavelength here. But all the same, if I'm having fish and chips from the local chippie then I find a cold Sauvignon Blanc hits the spot.

The secret is to find white wine with attitude -- a white wine that had enough flavour and attack to be an honourable red..... Have you tried the 2006 Springfield Special Cuvee SB from Waitrose?? --- wowwww!!

Give the Hill & Dale 2005 Pinotage a go. And, I am finding the 2006 Beyerskloof a real humdinger. (I think you had the 2005 last time --look for the 2006.....)

hear hear! - chilled white goes marvellously with fish&chips. but not with much else. except hot sun in the garden!

And there's nothing quite like a lovely chilled glass of Canadian Ice Wine after a night alone with a chocolate fountain.

And one day, I dream of owning my own wine-racks, like yours, and my own wine cellar, like yours, and my own wine-journal, like yours. But with a difference - mine will be packed purely with pearly whites. Not a rose or a red in sight.

har NY3, you know i've tried that canadian ice and couldn't stand more than a mouthful!! And all London-breds know what pearly whites refers to. You cannibal!

Well, General, given your last excellent reco I might have to find a Waitrose but there aren't many round this way.

I'll have to stick with fish and chips for now :)

LoL. It was a slip of the tongue. Quite literally.

:::ahem:::

Well, kq, what I'd really like to know is what wine do you drink to accompany white meat? Although my experience is somewhat limited, I haven't tasted a red yet that I've thought would go well with my Pollo Valdostana (which is very good, I might add)

kumquat said...

umm...cook me the valdostana and i'll try a white wine of your choice. how's that for a deal?

yes, yes i know it basically means i get cooked for and given wine in exchange for...well nothing but if you can overlook that minor point it seems like a great deal all round!
