quote of the night

last night cont'd/...

"...the novel is real it's not just a work of.....fiction"

(much laughter)

Last night was a lot of fun and thanks to Mrs B driving we got MreadB uproariously drunk. Three cheers for that lady. Many an inappropriate word was uttered regarding what you can smell on Saxon Way, what his nibs in the CO would do with the power of 'show emulator', the exquisite company of someone's sister, grass embedded in bracelets and what was nearly a leaving present but.....ANYway.....!!!

Today was a laugh a minute as you'd expect. Although there was one highpoint when Krispy Kremes gave out boxes of donoughts to anyone who works at c:mk.

I'd just like to say that I'm not the anonymous who doesn't know what a Kumquat is - I'm the other anonymous. Glad we've sorted that out. I do need to get myself a nick-name if I'm going to update you on the goings on in 'Big Uni Town'.

kumquat = a mini, oval-shaped squashed orange from China. Hope that clears it up.

a kumquat is a citrus fruit. it is very sharp to taste. i chose this name for a couple of reasons. mainly because it's from a poem by Tony Harrison (my hero) 'A Kumquat for John Keats', which I copied out in full as my first post on the blog. It really is a stunning poem but I particularly like the lines "...then it's the kumquat fruit expresses best, how days have darkness round them like a rind, life has a skin of death that keeps its zest." Just a stunning expression of life I think. Of course the kumquat as a fruit appeals to me because of the experience it gives you...

'ooh that looks interesting, looks harmeless enough i think i'll try it...arghhhhh what the hell is this thing...owwww my tongue, my mouth brrrrrggrrghhh wow that has some punch ahh that's better, it's passing, oh actually it's quite sweet after the first shock, i think i'll try another one....arghhh what the hell .... etc '

it seemed appropriate somehow!

big uni town boss, hope excitement doesn't keep you awake before your big day tomorrow. i'm sure your 'other place' line will transfer beautifully. "you're all working for ME now!!"
