today i started listening to a cd of 'haunted' by Palahniuk which is reputed to be so vile some people have actually thrown up reading it. so far we've had a lad misbehaving at the bottom of a swimming pool and subsequently having his intenstine sucked out of his rear by the pool filter. pretty graphic. maybe i have underdeveloped sensitivities to the gruesome but i'm not feeling nauseous yet. or maybe there's much worse to come.
or maybe i was immunised by ->

I'm looking forward to reading Haunted but am waiting until the smaller format pbk comes out...
But I am seeing Chuck P on Saturday night, so that's kinda exciting!
it did nothing for me either. liked the book, but to throw up? come on!
ahh ok so have i passed the worst? it made me laugh in a kind of black humoured way.
soul, how on earth are you getting to see Mr P on Saturday night?? And aren't you going to invite me?? wow. sounds very cool.
I'm also really enjoying 'The Republic of Trees' at the moment. Easier to get through than the cd as it's in a convenient paper format.
Of course I realised the next day that Haunted HAS just come out in pbk, so I bought a copy in the week...
Chuck's here on a quick promo tour and has been down in Brighton this w/e to do a couple of events for the Brighton Festival with Irvine Welsh - yesterday was a reading and Q&A followed by book signing, and tonight is an improvised spoken word multi-media thing with DJs and video projections...
They both seem lovely chaps!
Me again... Chuck read Guts at last night's performance... no word of a lie, 15 people fainted.
That's incredible. It must have much more of an effect read in person. I'm listening to it on c.d and I thought voice might make it more immediate.
Who are these people?
Is this the first time they've strayed away from Anne of Green Gables?!
Maybe they are hired by his publishing company and follow him around the country fainting on cue.
Cynical? Moi????
